Many children in Sweden have neuropsychiatric functional variations (NPF), such as Autism, Asperger or ADHD or mental health problem. These are diagnoses which are not visible on the outside, but which can cause a lot of trouble inside. Through the Invisible-Invincible bracelet, we support the organization of Min Stora Dag’s (My Special Day) work to give NPF children something to look forward to, and then a memory for life. By wearing the bracelet, you also show your support and help raise awareness and promote an attitude change around children with NPF diagnoses. 100kr from each bracelet goes to Min Stora Dag’s important work.
My Special Day is a Swedish non profit, non governmental organization, granting wishes for Swedish children and teenagers 4-18 years old, with serious illnesses and diagnoses. In addition to individual wishes that are fulfilled, My Special Day arrange group activities; attending pop concerts, sport events or other official, but special events – a very appreciated break from the tough everyday life for many.
In many areas of the world, children are forced to work instead of going to school, and are exposed to harmful traditions such as child marriage, abuse and female genital mutilation. Barnfonden (member of Child Fund Alliance) operates in Ethiopia with the aim of counteracting child labor and abolishing these harmful traditions so that children can finish school, educate themselves and shape their own future. As part of this work, girls’ clubs are started in schools where girls receive training in handling menstruation and menstrual protection, access to a separate toilet and then become ambassadors who train the whole school and also the surrounding villages in the elimination of harmful traditions and the importance of education. When you wear the bracelet, you show your support for girls and their rights, and for the universal sisterhood. SEK 100 from each sold bracelet goes to Barnfonden’s work. So far, the bracelets have contributed about 1130000kr to the projects in Ethiopia.
In 2018 Syster P got the opportunity to travel to the area and visit some of the projects, and see for ourselves what has been accomplished. It was an amazing experience, and gave us such hopes for the future to meet all these impressive young women who know what they want and how to achieve it.
Barnfonden was founded in 1991 and is part of the Global Child Fund Alliance network. Together with all who support us – child sponsors, monthly donors, companies and other donors – we give children in Africa, Asia and Latin America a chance for a better future. We focus on education, health, livelihood and child safety. And we know that help for self-aid and long-term sustainable development is the right way to go.
Our aim is to work closely and transparently in all stages. We have therefore chosen all our craftsmen with care, we know that they are well trained and working under regulated conditions. We frequently visit the places where our products are made. As far as possible, we are looking for suppliers who share our ambitions and demands for quality and finish as well as our preference for working with natural materials. Over the years, we have developed personal relationships with our suppliers, and we develop each new collection in close cooperation with those who do the actual production.
